Gail Goodrich

Gail Charles Goodrich Jr. (born April 23, 1943) is an American former professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association. A native of the Los Angeles area, he was captain of the John H. Francis Polytechnic High School basketball team before attending UCLA. Under coach John Wooden, Goodrich led the Bruins to their first two national championships, the first in 1963–64 a perfect 30–0 season alongside teammate Walt Hazzard. In the 1965 NCAA championship game against Michigan, he scored a then-record 42 points.

In the NBA, Goodrich is best known for his part in the Los Angeles Lakers' 1971–72 season, when he was the team's leading scorer. That season the Lakers won a still-record 33 consecutive games, posted what was at the time the best regular-season record in NBA history, and won the franchise's first NBA championship since relocating to Los Angeles. He also holds the highest average minutes per game in Phoenix Suns franchise history, at 39.9.

In 1996, 17 years after his retirement from professional basketball, Goodrich was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
