Gary Inness

Gary Inness (May 28, 1949 – February 23, 2021) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played 162 NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers, and Washington Capitals between 1973 and 1981. He also appeared in 63 World Hockey Association games with the Indianapolis Racers from 1977 to 1978. Inness took an unconventional path to professional hockey, attending McMaster University in Ontario where he played both football and hockey, then completing his teacher's certificate at the University of Toronto, where he won a CIAU championship. He signed with Pittsburgh as a free agent in 1973.
