George Carter

Dossier
George Carter (January 10, 1944 – November 18, 2020) was an American professional basketball player in the American Basketball Association. A 6-foot-4 swingman, he was born in New York and attended Silver Creek High School, graduating in 1963. There he earned two-time all-Western New York honors in basketball and also played football and ran track. In 2009, when The Buffalo News marked fifty years of All-Western New York basketball selections, Carter, a two-time All-WNY first team pick, was named to the second team of the all-time All-WNY squad.
Carter played his college basketball at St. Bonaventure University. He was selected by the Detroit Pistons in the eighth round of the 1967 NBA draft and by the New Orleans Buccaneers in the 1967 ABA draft. He was also drafted by Major League Baseball's New York Mets and the National Football League's Buffalo Bills; Carter, Dave Winfield, and Mickey McCarty are the only three people known to have been drafted by four different professional leagues.
Carter appeared in only one game for the Pistons before joining the Washington Caps.
