George Crowe

George Daniel Crowe (March 22, 1921 – January 18, 2011) was a first baseman and pinch hitter who appeared in 702 major league games between 1952 and 1961. Born in Whiteland, Indiana, Crowe attended Indiana Central College and was the first Indiana "Mr. Basketball." He served in the U.S. Army during World War II before playing with the New York Black Yankees of the Negro National League in 1947 and 1948. In MLB he played for the Boston/Milwaukee Braves, Cincinnati Redlegs, and St. Louis Cardinals, all in the National League, hitting 31 home runs for Cincinnati.
