George Culver

George Raymond Culver (born July 8, 1943, in Bakersfield, California) was a right-handed pitcher who appeared in Major League Baseball from 1966 to 1974 with the Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Reds, St. Louis Cardinals, Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Philadelphia Phillies. A multi-sport athlete at North High School in Bakersfield, he declined a $1,000 signing bonus from the Phillies to attend Bakersfield College, then signed with the New York Yankees in 1963 for $2,500. His most notable performance came on July 29, 1968, when he threw a no-hitter for Cincinnati in a 6–1 victory over Philadelphia. He pitched for the Nippon-Ham Fighters in Japan in 1975.
