George Shaw

Dossier
George Howard Shaw (1933–1998) was a professional football quarterback who played seven seasons in the NFL and one season in the AFL. Born in Portland, Oregon, Shaw attended the University of Oregon before being selected first overall by the Baltimore Colts in the 1955 NFL Draft, where he started 17 consecutive games. A leg injury in 1956 led the Colts to insert backup Johnny Unitas at quarterback. Shaw was a member of the 1958 Baltimore Colts team that defeated the New York Giants in sudden-death overtime for the NFL Championship.
