George Tarasovic

George Kenneth Tarasovic (May 6, 1930 – October 24, 2019) was an American professional football player of Rusyn or Slovak descent. His father's family came from a village in what is today northern Slovakia, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Tarasovic played college football for one season at Boston College before leaving the school for personal reasons. After a year of junior college at Northeast Louisiana, he transferred to LSU, where he was recognized as an All-American offensive lineman and a Southeastern Conference all-star as a linebacker.
The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Tarasovic in the second round of the 1952 NFL draft. In his rookie season, he started nine games for Pittsburgh and recovered four fumbles. He went on to play 15 years in professional football, primarily in the National Football League with the Steelers. He also spent time with the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles and the American Football League's Denver Broncos.
