Gerry Meehan

Gerard Marcus Meehan (September 3, 1946 – June 5, 2026) was a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger and executive. Born in Toronto, Ontario, and raised in Newmarket, Ontario, he played minor hockey for St. Michael's College School and junior hockey for the Toronto Marlboros, including the 1966–67 Marlboros squad that won the Memorial Cup. The Toronto Maple Leafs selected him in the fourth round, 21st overall, of the 1963 NHL amateur draft.

In the National Hockey League, Meehan played for the Maple Leafs, Philadelphia Flyers, Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks, Atlanta Flames, and Washington Capitals, serving as captain of both the Sabres and the Capitals. His minor-league and other professional stops included the Ontario Hockey Association's Toronto Marlboros, the American Hockey League's Rochester Americans, the Central Professional Hockey League's Tulsa Oilers, the Western Hockey League's Phoenix Roadrunners and Seattle Totems, and the World Hockey Association's Cincinnati Stingers.

One of his career highlights as a Sabre came in the final game of the 1971–72 regular season, in which the Philadelphia Flyers needed a win or a tie against Buffalo to reach the playoffs. After his playing days, Meehan moved into management, serving as general manager and senior vice president of the Buffalo Sabres.
