Greg Pruitt

Gregory Donald Pruitt (born August 18, 1951) was an American professional football running back who played in the National Football League from 1973 through 1984. Born in Houston, he attended B. C. Elmore High School, where he weighed only 165 pounds as a senior. He played college football for the Oklahoma Sooners, earning unanimous All-America honors in consecutive seasons in 1971 and 1972 and being named the Big Eight's offensive player of the year in 1971. He finished in the top three in Heisman Trophy voting twice and played on two Oklahoma teams that won the Sugar Bowl and finished the season ranked second in the nation. In the NFL, Pruitt was selected to five Pro Bowls, four with the Cleveland Browns and one with the Los Angeles Raiders, twice as a running back and three times as a kick returner and return specialist. He was a member of the Raiders team that won Super Bowl XVIII, defeating the Washington Redskins. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1999 and was part of the first Cleveland Browns Legends class in 2001.
