Gus Bodnar

Gus Bodnar (August Bodnar; born April 24, 1923, Fort William, Ontario; died July 1, 2005) was a Canadian centre who played 12 NHL seasons from 1943 to 1955 with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Black Hawks, and Boston Bruins. On October 30, 1943, he scored his first NHL goal 15 seconds into his debut — a record for the fastest goal by a player in his first NHL game. He finished his rookie year with 62 points and won the Calder Memorial Trophy as the league's top rookie for 1943–44. He won Stanley Cup championships with Toronto in 1944–45 and 1946–47.
