Dossier
Guy Sparrow (born November 2, 1932), nicknamed "The Bird," played center/forward in the NBA after recovering from a rheumatic ailment in his youth that temporarily disabled his legs. A graduate of the University of Detroit, he was selected by the New York Knicks in the third round (fifth pick) of the 1955 draft. In his rookie season he averaged 11.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. He was later traded to the Philadelphia Warriors for Jack George, where his production declined over two additional seasons. After leaving the NBA, Sparrow played for the Scranton Miners in the EPBL and earned All-EPBL Second Team honors in 1959–60.
