Hardiman Cureton

Hardiman Cureton (December 8, 1933 – October 1, 2003) was an American offensive guard and defensive lineman who played Canadian football. He attended Monrovia High School before starring at UCLA, where he helped the Bruins go 26-4 over three seasons (1953–55), winning three Pacific Coast Conference championships and appearing in two Rose Bowls. Named second-team All-Coast in 1954, he earned consensus first-team All-American honors as a senior in 1955, also serving as team captain — the first African-American to captain a UCLA football team. He played nine seasons in the Canadian Football League with Toronto, Ottawa, and Hamilton.
