Harry Coveleski

Harry Frank Coveleski (1886–1950) was a left-handed pitcher who played in Major League Baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies, Cincinnati Reds, and Detroit Tigers. Born in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, he was one of five ball-playing brothers; his younger brother Stan Coveleski went on to reach the Baseball Hall of Fame. Coveleski earned the nickname "The Giant Killer" after beating the New York Giants three times in five days at the close of the 1908 season, a run that allowed the Chicago Cubs to overtake New York in the National League standings and force a replay of the famous "Merkle's Boner" game.
