Dossier

Harold Macarius Hyland (January 2, 1889 – August 8, 1969) was a Canadian professional ice hockey forward who began his career with the Montreal Shamrocks in 1908–09 before joining the Montreal Wanderers of the National Hockey Association, where he was part of the 1909–10 Stanley Cup championship team. He played center with the Shamrocks and shifted to right wing with the Wanderers, with a single season as a rover for the New Westminster Royals of the PCHA in 1911–12. In the inaugural 1917–18 NHL season, Hyland scored five goals on the league's opening day, setting three NHL rookie records that remain unbroken. After the Wanderers folded in 1918, he joined the Ottawa Senators as playing coach before retiring.
