Henry Bibby

Charles Henry Bibby, born November 24, 1949, is an American former professional basketball player. At UCLA, he shared MVP honors on the 1969 freshman team with guard Andy Hill, leading the squad in scoring at 26.8 points per game. As a starting point guard, Bibby helped the Bruins win three straight national championships in 1970, 1971, and 1972, the program's sixth consecutive under head coach John Wooden. He led UCLA through the first 47 games of the Bruins' 88-game winning streak and was named an All-American in his senior year. He was one of only four players to start on three NCAA championship teams, the others being Lew Alcindor, Curtis Rowe, and Lynn Shackelford, all of whom also played for Wooden at UCLA.

The New York Knicks selected Bibby in the fourth round of the 1972 NBA draft. Over his professional career he played for the Knicks, the New Orleans Jazz, the Philadelphia 76ers, and the San Diego Clippers. He later spent a season as a player-assistant coach for the Lancaster Lightning of the Continental Basketball Association. His brother, Jim Bibby, was a Major League Baseball pitcher, and his son, Mike Bibby, became an NBA point guard.
