Herman Weaver

William Herman Weaver, nicknamed "Thunderfoot," is an American former professional football player who served as a punter in the National Football League for eleven seasons, from 1970 to 1980. Born on November 17, 1948, in Villa Rica, Georgia, he was one of four brothers and attended Villa Rica High School, where he was an All-State wide receiver and also played quarterback and handled the team's punting. He learned to punt from his older brothers, Glenn and Doug Weaver. As a senior in 1965, he was not among the top punters in his region, having been less successful with the rubber ball used in high school play than he would later be with the leather ball used in college.

Weaver spent the first seven years of his professional career punting for the Detroit Lions before finishing with four seasons for the Seattle Seahawks. Over his career he punted 693 times for 27,897 total yards. He was named the NFC Punter of the Year in 1975, and in 1988 The Sporting News named him one of the top 20 punters of all time. Weaver also shares the all-time NFL record for the most punts blocked in a career, with 14.
