J.P. Parise

Jean-Paul Joseph-Louis "J.P." Parisé (December 11, 1941 – January 7, 2015) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach who spent his National Hockey League career most notably with the Minnesota North Stars and the New York Islanders. Signed by the Boston Bruins at the age of 21 after a scout watched him score four goals and add two assists in a playoff-clinching game, Parisé was assigned to the Bruins' junior affiliate, the Niagara Falls Flyers of the Ontario Hockey Association, where he played for former NHL player and future Bruins general manager Hap Emms. Though not a promising scorer in junior hockey, he developed a diligent two-way game and earned a reputation as a skilled penalty killer. He turned professional the following season, and in the Original Six era, when big-league jobs were scarce, he spent most of the next five seasons in the Bruins' farm system. Parisé began to find his scoring touch in 1964 with the Minneapolis Bruins of the Central Professional Hockey League, recording 63 points in 72 games, and in 1966 he was named a Second Team league All-Star while with the Bruins' Oklahoma City Blazers affiliate.
