Jack Garfinkel

Jacob "Dutch" Garfinkel (born June 13, 1918, in Brooklyn) was an American professional basketball player who competed during the sport's formative years. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School before playing at St. John's University under coach Joe Lapchick, where he won the 1941 Haggerty Award as the top player in the New York City metropolitan area. Following military service in World War II, Garfinkel played for the Philadelphia Sphas, the Rochester Royals, and the Boston Celtics, becoming a member of the Celtics' inaugural 1946–47 BAA team. He played three seasons in Boston before retiring prior to the 1949 NBA merger.
