Jack Kramer

John Albert Kramer (August 1, 1921 – September 12, 2009) was an American tennis player who competed at the elite level during the 1940s and early 1950s. He won the U.S. Championships in 1946 and 1947 and Wimbledon in 1947, and helped lead the U.S. Davis Cup team to titles in both 1946 and 1947. After turning professional, Kramer won the U.S. Pro Championship at Forest Hills in 1948 and the Wembley Pro Championships in 1949, and was ranked world No. 1 amateur in 1946 and 1947. He was also a prominent promoter who advanced professional tennis at the highest level.
