Jack Lapp

John Walker Lapp (September 10, 1884 – February 6, 1920) was a professional baseball catcher who played in Major League Baseball from 1908 through 1916, spending seven seasons with the Philadelphia Athletics and one with the Chicago White Sox. A backup catcher for most of his career, Lapp nonetheless caught 503 games across nine seasons. His most notable moment came in Game 3 of the 1911 World Series, when he was pressed into duty after injuries sidelined Philadelphia's other catchers. In that 11-inning contest against the New York Giants, Lapp set a single-game record for a catcher by throwing out five base stealers and recorded 14 putouts. The Athletics won the Series in six games.
