Jack Sikma

Jack Wayne Sikma (born November 14, 1955) is an American former professional basketball center who played thirteen seasons in the NBA. Born in Kankakee, Illinois, to Grace and Clarence Sikma, he grew up in rural Wichert and attended St. Anne High School in St. Anne, Illinois, where he played guard for three years before a growth spurt brought him to 6'10" entering his senior season.

The Seattle SuperSonics drafted Sikma in the first round of the 1977 NBA draft, eighth overall. In 1979 he won an NBA championship with Seattle. Over his career he was named an NBA All-Star seven times and reached the playoffs in eleven of his thirteen seasons. He established himself as an accurate outside-shooting center at a time when big men played in the paint, and was known for his reverse pivot and step-back behind-the-head jumper, a maneuver that became known as the "Sikma move." He also drew notice for his distinctive blond hair, which he wore in a pageboy early in his career and in a perm later on.

Sikma finished his playing career with the Milwaukee Bucks. He scored 17,287 points in the NBA. He was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2019.
