John George Brandt Jr. (born April 28, 1934, in Omaha, Nebraska) was a right-handed outfielder who played in the major leagues from 1956 through 1967. He attended Omaha Benson High School and was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals as an amateur free agent before the 1953 season. After debuting with the Cardinals in April 1956, he was traded to the New York Giants, where he posted a .298 batting average with 12 home runs and 50 RBI in his rookie year. He won a Gold Glove in 1959 as the San Francisco Giants' left fielder, then was traded to Baltimore, where he earned an American League All-Star selection in 1961, batting .297.
