James "Shack" Harris (born July 20, 1947, Monroe, Louisiana) played quarterback in the AFL and NFL for the Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Rams, and San Diego Chargers. In 1969 he became the first Black quarterback to start a season opener in either league, and in 1974 he became the first Black quarterback to start an NFL playoff game. After his playing career, Harris moved into front-office roles with the Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Baltimore Ravens, where he was part of the Super Bowl XXXV championship organization.
