Jeffrey Alan Burroughs, an American outfielder, played professional baseball from 1970 through 1985. Born March 7, 1951, in Long Beach, California, to Charles Douglas and Iona Mae Burroughs, he attended Woodrow Wilson Classical High School before being selected first overall by the Washington Senators in the 1969 Major League Baseball draft.

Burroughs made his major league debut with the Senators on July 20, 1970, at age 19, starting in right field. He remained with the franchise through its relocation, playing for the Washington Senators and Texas Rangers from 1970 to 1976. In 1974 he led the American League in runs batted in and was named the league's Most Valuable Player. A two-time All-Star, he later played for the Atlanta Braves from 1977 to 1980, the Seattle Mariners in 1981, the Oakland Athletics from 1982 to 1984, and the Toronto Blue Jays in 1985.

Over a 16-season career spanning 1,689 games, Burroughs compiled a .261 batting average with 240 home runs and 882 runs batted in. He is the father of former major league third baseman Sean Burroughs.
