Jeff Sweeney

Jeff Sweeney played professional baseball during the early twentieth century, in the era documented by the tobacco-and-caramel card issues of the day. He appears on the T206 White Border and E90-1 American Caramel issues, two of the defining sets of the deadball era. The T206 White Border set, issued by the American Tobacco Company between 1909 and 1911 and distributed in cigarette packs, remains the most widely collected of all pre-war baseball card releases. Detailed biographical records for many supporting players of the 1909-1915 era are sparse; what survives in the historical ledger is often the cardboard itself, which fixes the player in time and team even when the fuller arc of his life is no longer recoverable.
