Jeff Torborg

Jeffrey Allen Torborg (November 26, 1941 – January 19, 2025) was an American professional baseball catcher and manager. A Rutgers University alumnus who batted .537 and earned All-American honors in 1963, Torborg played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and California Angels from 1964 to 1973. As a catcher he holds a notable distinction: he was behind the plate for Sandy Koufax's perfect game on September 9, 1965, Bill Singer's no-hitter on July 20, 1970, and Nolan Ryan's first no-hitter on May 15, 1973. He later managed five major league clubs, including the Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox, and New York Mets.
