Jesse Tannehill

Jesse Niles "Tanny; Powder" Tannehill (July 14, 1874 – September 22, 1956) was born in Dayton, Kentucky. His professional career ran from 1894 through 1911, placing him squarely in the nineteenth-century professional ranks, and he is most closely identified with the Washington Senators of the AL. After his major-league days ended in 1911, he continued in professional ball through 1914. He was listed at 5'8" and 150 pounds. He batted switch-handed and threw left-handed. For collectors, his most recognized appearance is in the iconic T206 White Border tobacco set issued 1909-11 by the American Tobacco Company. He died on September 22, 1956 in Dayton, Kentucky and was interred at Evergreen Cemetery in Southgate, Kentucky.
