Jim Busby

James Franklin Busby (January 8, 1927 – July 8, 1996) was a right-handed center fielder who played in Major League Baseball from 1950 to 1962. Born in Kenedy, Texas, he attended Texas Christian University before signing with the Chicago White Sox in 1948. Busby went on to play for six clubs, including the Washington Senators, Cleveland Indians, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, and Houston Colt .45s. A fast runner and reliable contact hitter, he posted a career-best .312 average in 1953 and drove in 80 or more runs in both 1953 and 1954. He earned particular distinction as a defensive outfielder, committing just 42 errors in 3,394 total chances, and was named an American League All-Star in 1951.
