Jim Colclough

James Michael Colclough (March 31, 1936 – May 16, 2004) was an American football flanker and split end who was a member of the original Boston Patriots in the American Football League. Nicknamed "Coleslaw," a play on his surname, he played college football at Boston College. He spent one season as a defensive back in the Canadian Football League with the Montreal Alouettes in 1959 before joining the Patriots, where he played nine seasons from 1960 to 1968, including the AFL's inaugural 1960 season.

Colclough was one of the premier deep threats in Patriots history. In 1962, his ten touchdown receptions and 21.7 yards per reception earned him a spot on the East Division All-Star team. Among his career highlights was a seven-reception, 142-yard, two-touchdown performance in a 45–17 win over the Denver Broncos on September 16, 1961, at Nickerson Field. Over his career he recorded 283 receptions for 5,001 yards and 39 touchdowns.

His 17.7-yards-per-reception average ranks third in franchise history, and his 39 touchdown catches are fourth on the team's all-time list. In 2009, Colclough was named to the Patriots' 1960s All-Decade Team. After his playing career, he served as head coach of the Division III Boston State College football team.
