Jim Hearn

James Tolbert Hearn (April 11, 1921 – June 10, 1998) was a right-handed pitcher who spent 13 seasons in Major League Baseball (1947–1959). Born in Atlanta, he attended Georgia Tech before signing with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1942, then served three years in the U.S. Army during World War II. After posting a 21–17 record with St. Louis, he was claimed by the New York Giants in July 1950 and immediately excelled, leading the National League in ERA (2.49) that season. In 1951 he won 17 games, helping New York overcome a 13½-game deficit to win the NL pennant, and defeated the Yankees in Game 3 of the World Series.
