Jim King

James Rowinski (January 4, 1961 – February 1, 2024) was an American professional basketball player who competed for nearly two decades across the United States and Europe. A 6'8", 260-pound center, he played college basketball for the Purdue Boilermakers.

As a freshman, Rowinski joined fellow center Russell Cross to help lead Purdue to a 21–11 record and a third-place finish in the NIT under first-year head coach Gene Keady. During his sophomore season, he helped the Boilermakers reach the NIT Finals, and in his junior year he led the team to the second round of the 1983 NCAA Tournament. After Cross departed for the NBA following his junior season, Rowinski became Purdue's starting center. In his senior season, he led the Boilermakers to a Co-Big Ten Conference title, a berth in the 1984 NCAA Tournament, and a 22–7 overall record, averaging 15 points per game. He was named First Team All-Big Ten and shared team co-MVP honors with point guard Ricky Hall, and was awarded the Chicago Tribune Trophy.

Following college, Rowinski played professionally for almost twenty years, with stops in Italy, Belgium, Spain, Turkey and the United States. He died on February 1, 2024, at the age of 63.
