Jim Landis

James Henry Landis (March 9, 1934 – October 7, 2017) was a center fielder who played Major League Baseball from 1957 through 1967, spending eight seasons with the Chicago White Sox. A product of Richmond High School in Richmond, California and Contra Costa College, he was signed by Chicago as an amateur free agent in 1952 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict before beginning his major league career. Landis was an American League All-Star in 1962 and won five consecutive AL Gold Glove Awards. He played a key role in the White Sox's 1959 American League pennant run, hitting .272 with 26 doubles.
