Jim Lorentz

James Peter Lorentz, Jr., born May 1, 1947, is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey centre who played 10 seasons in the National Hockey League between 1969 and 1978. His career began in 1964 with three years of junior hockey for the Niagara Falls Flyers of the Ontario Hockey Association. He turned professional in 1967-68 with the Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League, where he was named rookie of the year. In his second and final minor-league season, he led the league in scoring and was named Most Valuable Player.

Lorentz then joined the Boston Bruins, a powerhouse led by Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito. He scored his first NHL goal in Boston's 4-0 home win against Pittsburgh on March 2, 1969, though he saw limited ice time that season. Over the course of his NHL career he played for the Boston Bruins, St. Louis Blues, New York Rangers, and Buffalo Sabres. He won the Stanley Cup with Boston in 1970.

After his playing days, Lorentz became the color analyst for the Buffalo Sabres on the MSG Network and the Sabres Radio Network, working alongside play-by-play commentator Rick Jeanneret.
