Jim Scott

James "Death Valley Jim" Scott (April 23, 1888 – April 7, 1957) was born in Deadwood, South Dakota. His professional career ran from 1909 through 1917, placing him squarely in the deadball era, and he is most closely identified with the Chicago White Sox of the AL. After his major-league days ended in 1917, he continued in professional ball through 1927. He was listed at 6'1" and 235 pounds. He batted and threw right-handed. For collectors, his most recognized appearance is in the iconic T206 White Border tobacco set issued 1909-11 by the American Tobacco Company. He died on April 7, 1957 in Jacumba, California and was interred at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California (Sylvan Plot - Lot 29 - Grave C).
