Jim Watson

James Arthur Watson (born June 28, 1943) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman whose career spanned from 1964 to 1976. He played in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings and Buffalo Sabres between 1964 and 1972, appearing in 221 games and recording four goals and nineteen assists. He later moved to the World Hockey Association, where he played for the Los Angeles Sharks, Chicago Cougars, and Quebec Nordiques between 1972 and 1976. Across 231 WHA games, he scored seven goals and added thirty-three assists. Watson scored the first goal in Buffalo Sabres history on October 10, 1970, beating Les Binkley in a 2–1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.
