Dossier
James Patrick Archer (May 13, 1883 – March 29, 1958). A native of Dublin, Ireland, he died in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Standing 5-foot-10 and listed at 168 pounds, batted right-handed and threw right. He worked the major leagues from 1904 through 1918, spending the bulk of his career with the Chicago Cubs of the National League. He had turned professional back in 1903, several seasons before his big-league debut. His pre-war card record spans E254 Colgan's Chips, and T204 Ramly. He is interred at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Boone, Iowa. Specific location: Row W-8. He was born in Ireland — an unusual origin among players of his generation.
