Jimmy Hill (1928–2015) was an English footballer and broadcaster who played as an inside forward, beginning his career at Brentford in 1949 before moving to Fulham in 1952. As chairman of the Professional Footballers' Association, he successfully campaigned for the abolition of the Football League's maximum wage in 1961. After retiring as a player, he managed Coventry City, guiding the club from the Third Division to the First Division. He transitioned into broadcasting in 1967 and hosted the BBC's Match of the Day from 1973 to 1988. He was awarded an OBE for his contributions to the sport.
