Joseph Edward, known as "Joe", was born March 11, 1885 in Springfield, Ohio, and died March 19, 1944 in Springfield, Ohio. He made his major-league debut in 1908 and was associated chiefly with the Brooklyn Robins, with his final big-league appearance coming in 1909. His broader professional career — including minor-league service — extended through 1926. He stood 5-foot-9 and was listed at 160 pounds, and batted and threw right-handed. He appears on the T206 White Border and T204 Ramly issues, two of the defining sets of the deadball era. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield, Ohio.
