Dossier

Joseph Anthony Foy (February 21, 1943 – October 12, 1989) was a third baseman in Major League Baseball. Born in New York City within blocks of Yankee Stadium, Foy grew up a Brooklyn Dodgers fan and attended Evander Childs High School in the Bronx. He went unsigned out of high school and played for the amateur New York Billikens before the Minnesota Twins signed him in 1962 for a $5,000 bonus. He was subsequently selected by the Boston Red Sox in that year's minor league draft, advancing through the Red Sox system at stops including Wellsville, Winston-Salem, Seattle, and Reading.
