Joe Gibbon

Joseph Charles Gibbon (April 10, 1935 – February 20, 2019) was a left-handed pitcher who spent parts of 13 seasons in Major League Baseball from 1960 to 1972 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, San Francisco Giants, Cincinnati Reds, and Houston Astros. A native of Hickory, Mississippi, Gibbon attended the University of Mississippi, where he played both baseball and basketball. He signed with the Pirates in 1957 and reached the majors in 1960 after leading the International League in strikeouts with 152 for Triple-A Columbus. He posted a 4–2 record for the 1960 Pirates, who captured the National League pennant, and appeared in Games 2 and 3 of that year's World Series.
