John Lowenstein

John Lee Lowenstein (born January 27, 1947, in Wolf Point, Montana) was a professional baseball outfielder and designated hitter who played for the Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers, and Baltimore Orioles. He attended the University of California, Riverside, where he earned All-American honors as a senior, batting .393 and leading the team in seven offensive categories. He was the first UC Riverside athlete to receive a scholarship and be drafted by an MLB team, selected by Cleveland in the 18th round in 1968. Lowenstein was inducted into the UC Riverside Athletics Hall of Fame in 1989.
