John Lucas

John Harding Lucas III (born November 21, 1982) is an American professional basketball player and coach, born in Washington, D.C. The son of former NBA player and coach John Lucas II and his wife DeEdgra, he spent part of his youth in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. He attended Bellaire High School, where he was the starting point guard alongside future NBA players Emeka Okafor and Lawrence Roberts. His younger brother, Jai, is the head coach of the University of Miami men's basketball team.

Lucas began his college career at Baylor University but transferred to Oklahoma State University following the 2003 Baylor basketball scandal. At Oklahoma State, he hit the winning shot against Saint Joseph's University that sent the 2004 Cowboys to the NCAA Final Four.

After going undrafted in the 2005 NBA draft, Lucas joined the Minnesota Timberwolves for the 2005 NBA Summer League. He later turned to coaching, and has served as a player development coach for the Las Vegas Aces of the Women's National Basketball Association.
