John Titus

John Titus (February 21, 1876 – January 8, 1943), known as "Silent John", was born John Franklin and hailed from St. Clair, Pennsylvania. At 5-foot-9 and 156 pounds, he batted left-handed and threw left. He played in the major leagues from 1903 through 1913, a 10-season run, spending most of his career with the Philadelphia Phillies of the National League. His broader professional career stretched from 1901 to 1915, bracketing his major-league years on both ends. To collectors, he is known from his appearance on T206 White Border. He died January 8, 1943 in St. Clair, Pennsylvania and is buried at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
