Johnny Hopp

John Leonard Hopp (July 18, 1916 – June 1, 2003) was a left-handed outfielder and first baseman from Hastings, Nebraska who played 14 seasons in the major leagues from 1939 to 1952. Over 1,393 games he suited up for six clubs: the St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates, Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Yankees, and Detroit Tigers. A product of Hastings College, he signed with St. Louis in 1936 and spent four seasons in their farm system before his big-league debut. As a Cardinal and Yankee he appeared in five World Series between 1942 and 1951, earning four championship rings.
