John Anthony Mostil (1896–1970) was a center fielder for the Chicago White Sox during the 1920s. Born in Chicago, he debuted with the club in 1918 before spending two seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers of the American Association. He returned to the White Sox in 1921 and became the team's regular center fielder, batting consistently above .300 for several seasons. His best year came in 1926, when he hit .328 with a 133 OPS+ and led the American League with 35 stolen bases, finishing second in AL MVP voting. In 1925 he led the AL in runs scored, stolen bases, walks, and plate appearances.
