Joseph John Oswald "Jake" Sheppard (1902–1969) was a Canadian professional ice hockey forward who played nine seasons in the NHL between 1926 and 1934. Born in Montreal and raised in Selkirk, Manitoba, he began his career in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League before joining the Detroit Cougars in their inaugural 1926–27 season, where he led the team in goals (13), assists (8), points (21), and penalty minutes (60). On November 22, 1927, he scored the first goal at the newly opened Detroit Olympia. Sheppard later played for the New York Americans, Boston Bruins, and Chicago Black Hawks, posting career highs of 17 goals and 29 points with New York.
