Jude Drouin

Joseph Jude Drouin (born October 28, 1948) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward who played from the late 1960s into the 1970s. Born in Murdochville, Quebec, he played as a youth in the 1961 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with Murdochville. The Montreal Canadiens selected him in the third round, 17th overall, of the 1966 NHL Amateur Draft. He spent the 1966–67 season with their junior team, the Montreal Junior Canadiens of the Ontario Hockey Association, recording 32 goals and 36 assists in 47 games.

Drouin turned professional with the Houston Apollos of the Central Hockey League, scoring 68 points in 60 games and earning his first NHL playing time with Montreal in the 1968–69 season. The 1969–70 season returned him to the minors with the Nova Scotia Voyageurs, where he posted 106 points in 65 games, led the American Hockey League in scoring, and won the Dudley "Red" Garrett Memorial Award as the league's rookie of the year. With no room for him in Montreal's deep lineup, his opportunity came elsewhere: he helped the New York Islanders reach the NHL playoff semifinals in three consecutive seasons from 1975 to 1977.
