Ken Anderson

Kenneth Allan Anderson (born February 15, 1949) is an American former professional football quarterback who played 16 seasons in the National Football League for the Cincinnati Bengals. He played college football for the Augustana Vikings, where he earned National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-American honors, and was selected by the Bengals in the third round of the 1971 NFL draft. Over his career he led the league in passer rating four times, completion percentage three times, and passing yards twice. In 1981 he was named NFL Most Valuable Player and NFL Offensive Player of the Year, leading the Bengals to their first Super Bowl appearance. The following season he set an NFL single-season record for completion percentage at 70.6%, a mark that stood for over 25 years until Drew Brees broke it in 2009. Through the end of the 2024 NFL season, Anderson held the Bengals franchise record for career passing yards. After his playing career he served as a radio broadcaster for the Cincinnati Bengals from 1987 to 1993, and from 1993 he returned to the team as a position coach.
