Ken Carpenter

Kenneth Leroy Carpenter (February 26, 1926 – January 28, 2011) was a halfback who played college football at Oregon State from 1946 to 1949. The Cleveland Browns selected him in the first round of the 1950 NFL Draft, their first pick after joining the league. During his four seasons in Cleveland (1950–1953), the Browns won one NFL championship and appeared in three others; Carpenter earned a Pro Bowl selection in 1951. He moved to the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL in 1954, where he led the Western Interprovincial Football Union in scoring in 1955 and won the league's most valuable player award. He later played for the Denver Broncos in 1960.
