Larry Friend

Larry Friend (April 14, 1935 – February 27, 1998) was an American basketball player who grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and attended both Marshall High School and Fairfax High School. He played junior college basketball at Los Angeles City College, earning All-American honors, before transferring to the University of California, Berkeley, where he started three years for the Golden Bears and averaged 19.1 points per game as a senior, earning AP All-American third-team recognition. The New York Knicks selected him fifth in the second round of the 1957 NBA Draft. He averaged 4.0 points and 2.4 rebounds per game in his one NBA season, then returned to professional play with the Los Angeles Jets of the American Basketball League in 1961–62, appearing in 39 games and averaging 11.0 points per game.
